Cigs

Modern

1960's

Today, it is not often that you see an ad on TV for cigarettes.  In the 60's cigarette companies sponsored big events such as sports games so you would see many ads for cigarettes. Today you would not often see a cigarette company acting as a sponsor for sporting events. The field has largely been taken over by beer companies like bud light.  There have been rules put in place to prevent the advertising of tobacco but instead there are many anti-tobacco campaigns that advertise on tv and the internet.

Survey results

Based on the results of the survey, it is safe to say that a hacky-sack club would be popular at RMHS.  Out of 12 people, 4  said they would enjoy a philosophy or bird watching club, 9 people said they would like a hacky-sack club. Given a short answer question asking what kind of club they would like to see, the only club with more than one vote was hacky-sack.  While my survey received the results i wanted, to make it more effective, I could have given more options for people to vote on.

History of Handheld video games

In 1989 Nintendo released the Gameboy. This handheld console dominated the handheld market for 10 years and people still use these retro games today. Possibly the most played handheld game of all time is pokemon where you go around capturing creatures fighting them against other peoples creatures. It is a little like dog fighting but is ok because the animals aren't real. Today Nintendo still controls the portable gaming world with the new 3ds which stands for 3 dimensional and dual screen.

Baby boomers

Born from the years 1946 to 1964, the baby boomer generation was the largest generation until the millennial generation. People believe that many families postponing starting a family until after the great depression and World War II caused a spike in the amount of babies born after 1945.  With good opportunities available, the baby boomers had high hopes for the American economy and are a generally optimistic group.
The baby boomers are now at retirement age and currently control 51% of the wealth in the country. Movies about the baby boomers include Apocalypse Now, and Full Metal Jacket. Some classic boomer tv shows include "Flipper" and "Gilligan's Island"
Popular magazines of the era are Vogue and Masters of Rock.
The greatest live performance of the baby boomer generation was Woodstock 1969 and you could find many attendants of that show at Eric Clapton's crossroad festival in 2010.
Baby boomers can be found vacationing all over, tending to take road trips in their vans. But are known to travel to the west coast as well as Thailand.

Fads

Pet rocks
Image result for pet rocks
Targeted to kids who are allergic to dogs
They appeal because they have all the fun of a pet (at least a goldfish) without having to clean up any poo
They failed however because they are not actually that fun. (about as fun as a goldfish)
They were replaced by tamagotchi and other electronic pet games

toy hall of fame entrants 2016

This year 5 toys have been selected to enter the toy hall of fame. Chosen for different reasons and coming from all areas of the toy world, they are as follows.
1. The Rubiks Cube, The timeless classic not only flexes the brain of young children but also improves critical thinking skills.
2. The lego. With legos the possibilities are literally endless, from building a house to an x wing fighter all children can enjoy the fun that comes from these little yellow bricks.
3. Nerf guns. When kids are born today, the modern world nulls their natural instinct to kill. If you want your kid to sharpen their instincts and survive the hunger games, buy them a Nerf gun.
4. Play Doh ice cream factory. Every kid loves to eat play doh, thats a fact. But some kids don't realize how good it tastes. with the fun of turning it into an ice cream cone, all kids will be encouraged to eat it.
5.  The magic conch. All hail the magic conch

It is important to remember that these toys have undergone rigorous testing over many years, I personally feel that each one deserves their spot on the list and we should give mad props to the engineers who designed these dank toys.
